Ruth Pitter letters and papers, 1937-1974.

The collection consists of six items, including four letters, a signed typescript poem, and a copy of Variegation, including one of her poems. The letters include: photocopy of letter to Mrs. Huxley, 20 July 1937, commenting on May Sarton and American poetry in general; two letters to Mrs. Gooden, 20 Mar. 1945 and 4 Mar. 1949, the first mentioning the possibility of a book of cat poems, if she can find an illustrator, the second a thank-you after meeting; signed typescript letter to Mr. Yarbrough, 31 Oct. 1974, answering a long spate of questions about her poem, The unicorn. Also, signed typescript copy of the poem The unicorn; spring 1949 copy of Variegation, a free verse quarterly, including the poem Aged man to young mother, by Ruth Pitter.
